Main Board

Hardie Brown

Hardie Brown - Co-founder of the company in 1964 with brother Ian. Originally from a farming background, Hardie has seen the company grow from its grass roots to the Company it is today. He is a past Chairman of The Scottish Plant Owners Association and is President of The Perthshire Agricultural Society. As Chairman of I & H Brown, Hardie retains a day to day involvement.

Scott Brown

Scott Brown - Scott joined the Company in 1983 after qualifying as a CA with Ernst & Young. As Managing Director, he has overall responsibility for the day to day running of the business. He is a past Chairman of the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (Scotland), a past Vice-Chairman of Coalpro, a past Trustee of The Scottish Civic Trust and past Chairman of the Victims Fund, a charity that helps victims in the immediate aftermath of crime. His other interests include sailing and he is an enthusiastic piper.

Donald Brown

Donald Brown - Donald is the main board director with responsibility for SHEQ matters. He clairs the Civil Engineering Division and assists with the management of the company’s farms and estate interests which include a considerable number of let properties. Donald enjoys hill walking and mountain marathons.

Robert Brown

Robert Brown - Robert joined the Company in 1982 and, as Plant Director, he is responsible for the maintenance, operation and continual upgrading of our modern, wholly owned plant fleet.

Allan Miller

Allan Miller - Allan has held Director positions with two National housebuilding companies and has over 20 years experience of the Development Industry in Scotland. Allan leads the I & H Brown Development Division and is seeking to maximise I & H Brown's considerable experience in developing all types of land. Allan is a keen hillwalker and enjoys skiing.

Nigel Taylor

Nigel Taylor - Nigel joined the Company in 2005 as Divisional Director with responsibility for the Warrington based office. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Building, and is a Chartered Construction Manager with over 35 years experience in the Construction and Civil Engineering Industry. In early 2015 he was promoted to Managing Director for our Civil Engineering Division in England & Wales. In his spare time Nigel is a keen golfer and enjoys family life.

Alvar Kenwell

Alvar Kenwell - Alvar has recently joined the company in the role of Managing Director for our Civil Engineering Division in Scotland. Alvar brings 28 years of experience working on Civil Engineering projects across Scotland, areas of expertise are Infrastructure, Roadworks, Renewable Energy, Marine and Utilities. Alvar is currently Chairman of the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (Scotland) and outside of work he is a keen squash player and enjoys a round of golf as time permits.

Duncan Brown

Duncan Brown - Duncan joined I&H Brown in 2015 following the completion of a Graduate Scheme with an M&E Contractor working in the Facilities Management Industry. Upon joining the business Duncan became the 3rd generation of the Brown family to work for I&H Brown. Based at the Warrington office, Duncan is working within the Civil Engineering Division. In his spare time he enjoys outdoor activities including surfing, skiing and hillwalking.

Ray Entwistle

Ray Entwistle - Ray Entwistle, non-executive Director, retired Chairman of the Adam & Company Group PLC, and after fifteen years as a Director of Dunedin Smaller Companies Investment Trust PLC, stood down a recent AGM. Ray has been Chairman of the Scottish Civic Trust, The Fruitmarket Gallery and a Govenor of the Edinburgh College of Art. Raised funds for the Royal Botanic Gardens and the Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop, and was a Trustee of the Victim Support Victims Fund. He is currently Chairman of Hampden & Co. a new private bank recently approved by The Bank of England. Ray has enjoyed a long association with the Company and is an enthusiast of country pursuits in his spare time.

Senior Management

Lynda Campbell

Lynda Campbell - Lynda joined the Company in 1992 and as Company Secretary has responsibility for the Accounts, Admin, HR and IT departments. She manages Kingie estate and is currently a member of the Deer Management Group's Executive Committee. Lynda is passionate about deer stalking and mountain biking.

Ian Munro

Ian Munro - Ian is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, with more than 40 years of experience in construction. A divisional director, his responsibilities include operational matters, pre-construction and staff training. Ian enjoys keeping fit, is a keen hillwalker and a founder member of Edinburgh Rock Choir.

Jim Scott

Jim Scott - As one of the Divisional Directors of the Civil Engineering division, Jim has responsibility for civil engineering contracts and deployment of staff. Jim has 40 years experience in the industry, half of which has been with I & H Brown. Jim has various outdoor pursuits.

Hamish Redpath

Hamish Redpath - Hamish is a Quantity Surveyor with over 30 years experience in the civil sector of the he construction industry. A divisional director, his principal responsibilities are the management of commercial and contractual matters on our projects. He offers extensive experience in all of the main sectors of our business and enjoys golf and walking in his free time.

Bill Taylor

Bill Taylor - Bill joined the company in 2011 as Bid Manager and has subsequently progressed to assume the role of Bid Director within our Civil Engineering Division. Bill has 35 years experience in construction and he is responsible for coordinating our tendering and prequalification teams. Outside of work Bill's interests include cycling and hill walking.

Steve Asten

Steve Asten - Steve is a Chartered Civil Engineer with more than 30 years of experience in civil engineering, both in design and contracting. He is the Construction Director based in our Warrington office.
