We started in 1964 as a plant hirer then evolved into sub-contracting and, from the mid 1970s, into a Civil Engineering main contractor. We have successfully completed around 500 projects and we are proud that our managing director, Scott Brown, was the first Chairman of CECA Scotland.
Environmental improvement work is at the heart of our business. From extensive involvement in the colliery reclamation in the 1980s, we have become Scotland’s leading contractor in the reclamation of brownfield sites and the Remediation of contaminated land. Our Development Division now applies our accumulated expertise to similar sites.
We added surface mining to our portfolio in 1985, since when we have extracted over 3 million tonnes of coal. More recently, our Energy Division has focused on renewable energy. We operate one wind farm and have gained consents for three others, generating around 85MW.
We have always had interests in Farming and Estates and this remains so today, with land in Perthshire, Fife, East Lothian and Inverness-shire.
