The recovery of former industrial land for restoration or re-use has always been an important component of our business. Since the initiative in the 1980s to restore former collieries, where we completed 50 projects in just 10 years, we have been ever-present in the reclamation of our historic industrial past.
We have carried out work at many of the country’s most recognised industrial sites - from the giant steelworks at Ravenscraig and the site of the Commonwealth Arena & Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, to the John Brown shipyard on the Clyde where the Queen Mary and both the Queen Elizabeth liners were built. Our project at Black Law wind farm involved more than 3,500,000m3 of material movements to restore an abandoned open cast mining site.
We are comfortable in tackling all associated works, including demolition, service clearance, roads, drainage and removal of old foundations and hardstandings.
