I & H Brown Ltd – Director’s Summary Biographies

 

Main Board

 
Hardie Brown – Co-founder of the company in 1964 with brother Ian. Originally from a farming background, Hardie has seen the company grow from its grass roots to the Company it is today. He is a past Chairman of The Scottish Plant Owners Association and is President of The Perthshire Agricultural Society. As Chairman of I & H Brown, Hardie retains a day to day involvement.  

Scott Brown – Scott joined the Company in 1983 after qualifying as a CA with Ernst & Young. As Managing Director, he has overall responsibility for the day to day running of the business. He is a past Chairman of the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (Scotland) and a past Vice-Chairman of Coalpro. Scott is a Trustee of The Scottish Civic Trust. His interests include sailing and he is an enthusiastic piper.

Roger Philpott - Roger joined the company in 1993 as a Site Agent and has since progressed to having overall responsibility for the civil engineering division. Outside work, Roger is currently lending assistance to a rural community in Kenya. Having already provided clean drinking water, his team is raising funds to construct an irrigation system. Closer to home, he enjoys managing his agricultural interests near Auchterarder. 

Robert Brown – Robert joined the Company in 1982 and, as Plant Director, he is responsible for the maintenance, operation and continual upgrading of our modern, wholly owned plant fleet.

 

Donald Brown – Donald assists with the management of the company’s farms and estate interests which includes a considerable number of let properties. Donald enjoys hill walking.

Ray Entwistle – Ray Entwistle, non executive Director, is Chairman of the Adam & Company Group PLC,(Scotland’s private Bank);Director of Dunedin Smaller Companies Investment Trust PLC; Chairman of  the Scottish Civic Trust and serves on committees at the Royal Botanic Gardens and the Edinburgh College of Art. He has enjoyed a long association with the Company and is an enthusiast of country pursuits in his spare time.

Nigel Taylor – Nigel joined the Company in 2005 and is divisional director with responsibility for the Warrington office. Nigel is a member of the Chartered Institute of Building and comes to the company with 27 years experience in the Industry. Nigel enjoys a game of golf in his spare time.
 
 
 

Ian Munro – Ian joined in 2004 and is a chartered engineer with 27 years civil engineering experience. A divisional director, his responsibilities include operational matters, staff training, pre-tenders, marketing and business development. Ian is another keen hill walker and enjoys keeping fit.

Jim Scott – As divisional director of the civil engineering division, Jim has responsibility for civil engineering contracts. Jim joined the company in 1994 and has over 32 years experience in construction. Jim’s interests include skiing, gardening and hill walking.
