St Andrews Bay Development

image As a result of this contract, the site now provides a major golf and hotel complex, rated among the top 10 in the world, which is hoping to become a contender for future golf open events.
This contract involved large-scale earthworks and excavation of significant amounts of subsoil and rock materials. Further earthworks included the removal and subsequent off-site disposal of an existing refuse tip, and excavations forming the basement of the hotel basement, which were then backfilled around an installed retaining wall. Significant earth-moving was also involved in the construction and contouring of the associated golf course.
Another major section within the project remit involved the provision of site drainage (foul and surface runoff) and the construction of associated drainage outfall features to the sea.
Site hard standing areas included the construction of on-site road infrastructure, parking and lighting provision and two road junctions, providing access to the local road network. Further soft landscaping works, grass seeding and planting were also undertaken.
The original project program and budget was amended due to unforeseen on-site circumstances that were experienced with another site contractor. The difficulties experienced by them resulted in the project management requesting that I & H Brown Ltd remained on-site for an extended period.
Sub-contracted works included £900,000 of drainage installation and on-site road surfacing.
