1st Contract
Approx. 7,000,000 tonnes of material was excavated, hauled and washed to recover coal at around 15%, all other materials were then replaced in landscape mounds and stockpiles.
2nd Contract
Approx. 3,000,000m2 of Colliery Spoil was excavated to remove peat underlying layer. Colliery spoils were then replaced as structural fill and capped. Unsuitable materials were located and dealt with by landscaping. 50% of the excavation was carried out below the water table which was successfully drawn down without de-stabilising adjacent properties and railway line. The area of the site was 75Ha. The end use was housing and business facilities.
3rd Contract
Approx. 1km of spine road along with drainage and all services was constructed to form main access for subsequent housing development. |
